Yela was born in Dordrecht and grew up in Oud-Beijerland, near Rotterdam. After finishing high school, Yela began studying at the Theater Academy in Maastricht, where she graduated in 2017. Following her graduation, Yela joined The National Theatre as part of the ensemble, where she played various roles, including leading parts in The Nether, De Eeuw van Moeder, and in 2023, the title role in the highly praised Coriolanus, for which she was nominated for the Louis d'Or Award in 2023. On screen, Yela appeared in Rampvlucht, Nemesis, Red Light, and in the short films Over een Pastoor op Regenlaarzen and Embrace Me.
